Liriope at Jasper Ridge: a site-specific retelling of the Narcissus myth with movement and music
On the evenings of May 30 and 31 Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve will be the venue for the performance of Liriope, a site-specific retelling of the Narcissus myth.
Tickets are available here: http://bit.ly/Liriope. The performance is an interactive, immersive experience in nature, with audience watching the performance outdoors and walking through the preserve as the play unfolds. The performance will take us into an era where water conditions are extreme and a silencing disease released by melting arctic ice spreads from species to species.  Water is at once parent, friend, lover, and murderer. The nymph Liriope faces a choice between her work as a healer and looking after her son, a talented but self-obsessed teenager.  This work-in-progress staging is the culmination of Bonnie Wai-Lee Kwong's work as artist in residence at Stanford. Chris Chafe of CCRMA will lead the music improvisation on the electric cello.

Dates: May 30 & 31
Time: 5:15 - 8:30 pm
Location: Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve (bus leaves from Tresidder/Faculty Club)
