Place-based stewardship science at Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve

Sheena Sidhu, PhD. Staff Scientist at Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve, Stanford University

There is important work to do place-based applied research that can directly inform local climate change resilience, and it is vital to act collectively. Jasper Ridge’s newest staff scientist, Dr. Sheena Sidhu, approaches this work with the goal of creating more resilient communities, both ecologically and socially. Sheena will share an overview of her place-based research and stewardship projects from agricultural systems in Pennsylvania, pollination systems on the California Channel Islands, and forest health & fuel reduction across San Mateo County. We will also discuss her future work on two large stewardship efforts at Jasper Ridge: fire fuel reduction with the Stanford Wildfire Manage Plan, and the Searsville Watershed Restoration Project.
