Abstract:
Western fence lizards carry a large number of parasites, namely mites and ticks, in pockets on their necks and in their ears. I explored the relationship between the parasite and the host by comparing the body condition, as determined by the mass-to-length ratio, to the parasite load. I hypothesized that a large number of parasites would indicate a lizard with a poor body condition, but found no correlation between these variables.
