Abstract:

This study shows that when P. imparis and L. humile (the Argentine ant) forage separately at bait stations made with tunafish, honey water and pecan sandies (a type of cookie), tunafish is the most preferred food, followed by honey water and finally pecan sandies. When L. humile and P. imparis compete for food resources, however, L. humile is likely to dominate tunafish while greatly reduced rates of P. imparis will forage at honey water.
